It started as a church in the Middle Ages, a little town grew up around it. In the northwest part of France, one can walk across the sand from the mainland when the tide is low.

it was a silent monastery – the monks weren’t allowed to talk. So they used sign language to convey what they wanted. Guess what this means.
Mont St Michel is famous for its fluffy omelets, pioneered by Marie Poulard in the late 1800s. She made them for people on pilgrimage to the holy site.
It looks huge, but it’s only 3 eggs.
